Electoral Commissioner, Western Area, Shares Key Insights on 2023 Elections and Future Prospects

On Tuesday, 25th February 2025, the Electoral Commissioner for the Western Area, Mrs. Zainab Umu Moseray, delivered a comprehensive analysis of Sierra Leone’s 2023 elections at a conference organized by Yiaga Africa in Abuja, Nigeria.

In her presentation, she examined key aspects of election administration, voter participation, and conflict management, highlighting both successes and challenges encountered during the electoral process. While acknowledging areas that worked well, she also addressed critical issues affecting transparency, logistics, and public trust. More importantly, she provided actionable recommendations to strengthen future elections.

Mrs. Moseray emphasized that valuable lessons have been learned, despite the challenges faced. Looking ahead, she underscored the need for institutional strengthening, legal reforms, technological advancements, and enhanced stakeholder engagement to build a more transparent, credible, and resilient electoral system in Sierra Leone.
